If I choose to backup without using the ASR bullet option and check off C drive and system state will that allow me to recreate the boot drive by inserting the WXP cd and choosing ASR restore option? NO.... Thats called a Full System Backup when you backup all of C: including the System State.

I can then do the restore of my previously saved system image using the floppy load DOS version of Ghost. How can I do this without a fresh install of Windows XP (just need a primary partition and format to NTFS only). Any help here? When building a system, the size of the image will be much less, you aren't imaging data. Taking an hour or less to do the first full image, then 5 minutes or so to make an incremental image in between making changes is time well spent. No, you cannot delete selective restore points or save one forever.

Good point about the image - hadn't thought of that. I thought of hiding the partition but wouldn't that mean that I'd manually have to unhide it before a dual boot? WXP will delete Vista's restore points, because Vista saves them in a non-standard format and WXP gets rid of non-standard stuff.
